Abstract:

:Several myosin isoforms are expressed in smooth muscle, based upon both heavy and light chain polymorphisms. These myosin isoenzymes reveal distinct detachment rate constants, thus regulating the responsiveness of the VSMC contractile apparatus to Ca2+, as well as its energetical and mechanical behavior.
