Cytoskeleton and NGF in the pathogenesis and treatment of Alzheimer's disease.

Abstract:

:While cytoskeletal abnormalities are prominent in the neurons of patients with Alzheimer's disease, the possibility remains that these changes are secondary to changes in the neuronal environment. The success of NGF in the therapy of Alzheimer's disease may be dependent on its ability to promote neuronal survival rather than its promotion of neurite extension.
