Effect of cupric ions on the incorporation of 3H-thymidine and 5-3H-uridine into nucleic acids of rabbit endometrial cells. An in vitro study.

Abstract:

:The effect of cupric ions on the uptake of tritiated-thymidine and 5-tritiated-uridine into endometrial cells obtained from pseudopregnant rabbits was studied in vitro. In endometrial cells obtained 48 and 120 hours after human chorionic gonadotropin injection, the uptake of tritiated-thymidine was significantly inhibited by cupric ion concentrations ranging from 3-10 mcg/ml (p less than .05). Threonine, histidine, and human serum albumin significantly reduced the effects of 5 mcg/ml cupric ions on the incorporation of tritiated-thymidine (p less than .025). Generally, cupric ions had no effect on the uptake of 5-triated-uridine, though in 1 experiment, incorporation was significantly stimulated at cupric ion concentrations of 5 mcg/ml (p less than .05) and 10 mcg/ml (p less than .001).
