Abstract:
:Enteral feeding systems provide a mechanism for nutritional support for patients who may be unable to tolerate oral dietary sustenance. This review takes into account recent infection control issues relating to enteral feeding systems. The review is organized into the following areas of emphasis: infections associated with enteral tube feeding, the stability and contamination of enteral tube feeding, the risk:benefit analysis of enteral tube feeding, and the protective effects of enteral tube feeding.
