Haemoglobin messenger RNA in spleen of anaemic rabbits.

Abstract:

:Haemoglobin meseenger RNA was isolated from spleen erythroïd cells of anaemic rabbits. The mRNA fraction looks quite homogeneous when analyzed by sucrose gradient centrifugation; it sediments in the 9S region. When added to an ascites cell free system, spleen 9S RNA stimulates the incorporation of radioactive leucine into protein. The synthesized product has been characterized and identified as α and β chains of rabbit globin.
