Abstract:
:Australian nurses sit amidst a treasure-trove of developing knowledge, and yet are dragging their feet when it comes to nursing research. Barriers or 'perceived' barriers to the development of nursing research in this country are explored. These include ideological concerns, economic constraints, and infrastructural factors. A set of recommendations, which may assist nurses in attaining a research profile in keeping with the status of a profession is offered.
