Abundance and membrane association of elongation factor Tu in E. coli.

Abstract:

:Elongation factor Tu is present in a fourfold excess over the amount seemingly involved in protein synthesis. It is identical to a major protein which we have found associated with the plasma membrane. The possibility of a specific role in that location is considered.
