[Ethnobotany of Euphorbiaceae of West Africa].

Abstract:

:The following ethnobotanical study is a compilation of medicinal Euphorbiaceae in West Africa (Senegal, Gambia, Guinea Bissau, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Mali, Bourkina Faso, Ghana, Togo, Bénin, Niger, Nigeria), and includes 81 species distributed in 37 genera. It includes a reminder of the genera's principal characters, followed by the key of species, and a description of different ethnopharmacological applications. These species are used in the treatment of 87 symptoms; 46% are thought to have purgative properties, and 28% antidiarrhoeic and antidysenteric activities.
