Abstract:
:Captafol is a common cause of dermatitis amongst workers in the timber industry. In a survey of 14 timber treatment plants 23% of 133 workers exposed to captafol gave a history suggestive of occupationally induced dermatitis. Although allergic dermatitis can occur, irritant dermatitis is far more common. Attention to plant and personal hygiene will reduce the prevalence of captafol dermatitis significantly. Recommendations on how to achieve this are made. "The ultimate end...is not knowledge, but action. To be half right on time may be more important than to obtain the whole truth too late."
