Necrotizing fasciitis: a rare complication of hypospadias surgery in a child.

Abstract:

:Necrotizing fasciitis is a rapidly progressive soft tissue infection involving the skin, subcutaneous tissue, and superficial fascia. It is a rare entity in the pediatric population. The specific etiologic factors that contribute to the establishment of necrotizing fasciitis in children are not evident. It may occur after minor trauma or operative procedures. The authors report a case of necrotizing fasciitis after hypospadias repair. This complication is extremely unusual and to the authors' knowledge has not been previously described.
