Abstract：
:The cognitive effects of the most commonly used antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) are reviewed, discussing both the absolute effects (the effects compared to no treatment) and the relative effects (the comparison of one AED with an other). The cognitive profile per AED is given, based on a literature database, consisting of 1,357 articles in peer review journals. Available information on the newer AEDs is discussed as an addendum.
