Abstract:
:This paper describes a project designed to equip direct care workers with the knowledge and skills to address communication as a central factor in the lives of people with learning disabilities who challenge services. The elements of the approach taken--'Challenging Communication'--are described, outcomes discussed and possible implications for the speech and language therapy profession briefly considered.
