The impact of certificate of need on CT scanning in Massachusetts.

Abstract:

:Evidence suggests that prolonging the period of new technology diffusion has the potential of considerable cost savings, although some very real, noneconomic patient costs may be incurred. Yet hospital administrators will continue to face increasing pressure to buy newer and more expensive technologies, even before their efficacy has been established.
