Carbohydrates--purity assessment.

Abstract:

:In this brief review a superficial introduction is given to the important area of biologically active carbohydrates. The complexity of carbohydrate chemistry is considered and the possible uses of carbohydrates as drugs and diagnostic agents are outlined. The analytical tools and methods that are especially useful for purity assessment of carbohydrates are examined with particular emphasis on liquid chromatography.
