Controlled continuous flow method for transurethral resections.

Abstract:

:Controlled continuous flow is a new method for performing transurethral resection. Pumps are guided by an intravesical solid state transducer designed into the instrument. There is computer control of pump balance with electronic shut-off at maximum pressure limits which are determined by the surgeon. This method was used successfully in 75 cases of transurethral resection of the prostate gland.
