Reversible sensorineural hearing loss.

Abstract:

:We present an unusual case of temporary sensorineural hearing loss in a 6-year-old child due to carbon monoxide. This was shown on both the audiograms and confirmed with objective testing using otoacoustic emissions. Carbon monoxide poisoning is one of the few recognised causes of reversible sensorineural hearing loss, though it may also lead to a permanent deficit. This is discussed along with other potential causes of reversible sensorineural hearing loss.
