Abstract:
:German practices in the field of learning disabilities beyond preschool level are described in the context of their historical formation. In a historical perspective it becomes obvious that the German notion of Lernbehinderung, although being just a translation of "learning disabilities," differs markedly from the American definition. Definitional problems, educational practices, and emerging trends in the German field of "learning disabilities" are discussed.
