Community-based services for people with AIDS.

Abstract:

:AIDS is a progressively debilitating disease in which the infected individual will require a diverse range and often intensive set of formal and informal services. With assistance from health care providers, community-based organizations, family, and friends, quality of life can be maintained. Community-based organizations have the advantages of cost-effectiveness, flexibility, individualized attention, accessibility, and cultural sensitivity. The range of community-based services is described.
