Local anesthetics for the pediatric patient.

Abstract:

:Local anesthetics are often extremely useful in the management of acute, chronic, and procedural pain. They have a low therapeutic ratio, so physicians should not exceed established dosing guidelines for a single bolus or long-term infusions. New local anesthetics that promise better safety and longer duration of action are on the horizon.
