Abstract：
:This is a 1 year study on the use of a culdoscopic sterilization technique on 250 patients aged 25 or more with at least 4 children and at least 6 weeks Postpartum. Clinical examination was made to exclude tumors, infections, or endometriosis. The laparoscope was used for transvaginal female sterilization employing a culdoscopic technique. Under direct vision the fallopian tube is brought to the vagina with the aid of long handled forceps. The tube is crushed at a point and 2 transfixing linen, silk or nylon sutures are tied 3 mm. on either side of the crushed point. The method is simple and effective. Gaseous distention occurred in 12.0%, menstrual upsets in 4.4%, and vaginal discharge in 7.0%. 12 patients developed granulation tissue at the operation site. Advantages include use of local anesthetic, no abdominal scars and discharge the following day.
