A model for nursing using anthropological literature.

Abstract:

:This paper describes the usefulness of the incorporation of medical anthropology into the nursing process. It suggests that in order to plan comprehensive patient care, much more attention needs to be paid to lay concepts of illness and causation of illness. This must take place at the assessment stage. If it does not, the nurse and the patient may be working towards conflicting goals of care which may prevent healing.
