Abstract:
:Scientifically valid data about the risks and rates of nosocomial infection are important to assist critical care nurses in developing clinical care improvement strategies. Contemporary epidemiologic methods should be used to facilitate the accurate assessment of data, whether for intrahospital or interhospital comparisons. Results of infection monitoring should be integrated into unit-based quality improvement efforts, practice decisions, and nursing education systems.
