Abstract:
:The purpose of this study was to determine if a relationship exists between work roles, work role values and job satisfaction for registered nurses employed in the hospital setting in the USA. A total of 201 nurses responded (33% response rate) to a survey instrument consisting of questions regarding work roles, work role values and the Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire. Spearman's rank order and Pearson's product moment tests were carried out to determine the correlation between the three factors. Although the resulting information was not statistically significant (r = 0.12), the strength of this study lies in its conceptual and theoretical bases.
