[An observation on cricothyroid muscle function (author's transl)].

Abstract:

:The cricothyroid muscle is important to the singing voice, in the male in the chest and falsetto registers and in the female in the head register, assisting in production of the highest notes. In speech its contraction only occurs during high pitched speech. It serves as an additional tensor of the vocal cord.
