Automeris io (caterpillar) dermatitis.

Abstract:

:Four subjects were exposed to dorsal spines of the Automeris io caterpillar. The experimental presented herein indicates that there is a substantial variability in response between human subjects. The urticarial reaction produced can be categorized broadly as contact urticarda and most probably is nonimmunologic, depending on mediator release.
