Abstract:
:The term 'standing in nomenclature' is used in several instances in the International Code of Nomenclature of Prokaryotes, but the term is not defined. An analysis of the way the term has been used in the past and the context in which it is currently used indicates that it may be more appropriate to substitute the term with more suitable wording that is consistent with usage in other parts of the Code.
