Active and passive forces during ischemia and reperfusion of rat fast and slow twitch skeletal muscles.

Abstract:

:The present study shows for the first time, the response in active and passive forces of skeletal muscles to tourniquet ischemia. These responses were shown for both fast and slow twitch muscle types in the same rat hindlimb. Our data agrees partially with metabolic studies on ischemic skeletal muscles. The differences may be due to inhibition of excitation of myofilaments.
