Primary biliary cirrhosis in an elderly man with normal liver tests.

Abstract:

:Primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC) is a cholestatic liver disease that usually presents in middle-aged women. Women are about ten times more commonly affected than men. The case of a 78-year-old man with PBC who presented with pruritus is discussed. Liver biopsy and antimitochondrial antibody serology were diagnostic of early-stage PBC.
