Tinnitus and bilateral sensorineural hearing loss: ankylosing spondylitis or a side-effect of sulphasalazine treatment?

Abstract:

:We report the case of a young male patient with ankylosing spondylitis treated with sulphasalazine who developed bilateral sensorineural hearing loss with tinnitus. Discontinuation of sulphasalazine led to complete resolution of tinnitus and an improvement in hearing loss. We discuss the features of this case and also review the relevant literature.
