Abstract：
:The scar resulting from elective cutaneous surgery can be minimized if the location of the incision is chosen after considering the direction of the skin tension lines, creases, and wrinkles, and if the patient is positioned so that the skin of the surgical field is in a relaxed or anatomically neutral position. Selection of the best location for an elective incision is discussed.
