Oxygen demand by lipid-accumulating yeasts in continuous culture.

Abstract:

:Specific oxygen uptake rates [Q(02)] were highest when Candida 107 and Rhodotorula gracilis grew at their maximum dilution rates. In nitrogen-limited medium, which encourages lipid accumulation, Q(02) values of both yeasts decreased as the dilution rate was lowered.
