Diet Preferences and Specificity of Hungers in Rats Fed Diets Deficient in Various Vitamins and Minerals.

Abstract:

:Some specific hungers for vitamins or minerals can be explained as learned preferences, facilitated by the novel diet preferences shown by rats deficient in specific nutrients. Specific hunger for sodium, however, is a result of an innate, unlearned behavior pattern.
