U.S. biotechnology: living with regulation.

Abstract:

:A brief account is provided of a meeting between federal officials and representatives of the Industrial Biotechnology Association (IBA), a consortium of companies concerned about the regulatory outlook for their industry. Current regulatory interest is focused on the Environmental Protection Agency, which has declared its intention, under the Toxic Substances Control Act, to regulate the development of new genetically engineered substances.
